Tazo green tea beverages, a summer promotion at Starbucks locations in US and Canada, helped increase companys July sales to $495 million, a 21% growth over the same period last year. Made with matcha tea - tea leaves that are picked young and pulverized into powder - the drink debuted in Taiwan and Singapore in 2001, and has since been added in Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Korea, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
